Karate Kiddo

Alanna started karate this Fall and so far is loving it. She's earned one ribbon so far and is just too much fun to watch during her lessons. She's the littlest one in the class, so Sensei keeps her right in the front in the middle. She is working on her next ribbon for this week and has to do three kicks then run away screaming...so far her favorite part is the running and the screaming, guess we have a little practicing to do on the rest yet.

  1. Is the activity in karate more to her taste than dance? I can see benefit in both of them but I often encouraged parents to let kids do karate. A good program teaches self confidence, control, and how to break a board with your head! Two outta three....

  2. She is enjoying this far more than dance and also more willing to practice. I think her coordination suits karate better and the other factor is that she's a little older now than when she did dance. Amazing the difference just a few months makes at this age.

One of the things I really appreciate about this class is that each session he teaches a bit about staying safe/stranger danger/etc which is so important for her to hear over and over.
